Sahalie Falls McKenzie River Engagement | Marissa & José
I posted a few pics from this amazing adventure engagement session on Instagram and everyone kept throwing the term “fairy tale” around. Especially for the shot of Marissa & José walking up towards the waterfall. I’m kind of torn though on that term. I feel like these images represent real life more than a fairy tale and for some reason it makes me to want respond with something along the lines of “no, this is REAL love, not a fairy tale”. But then again, I get it; it looks like a fairy tale.
In the words of one of my favorite photographers, Robert Frank (look him up right now if you’ve never heard of him), “When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.” That’s one of my favorite quotes of the moment from one of my favorite photographers of the past. I think it sums up my feelings towards this work quite nicely. I may not agree that Marissa and José are fairy tale characters; but they’re definitely in a poem. Hope you have time to read it twice.
PS: We got completely soaked for these shots, but they were so worth it. The waterfall had so much spray coming off it, right into our faces. Super happy to have clients that are willing to go the extra mile (or in this case probably two or three) for a photo!
