Paint Powder Engagement Photos | Raegan & Sean | Springfield Oregon
These photos have been creating quite the buzz already, just from a couple of shares on my Instagram (@joshuaraineyphotography) and my Facebook page. So, I decided to blog them right away so ya’ll can see more images and enjoy this fun engagement session too.
Raegan and Sean came up with a really awesome idea for engagement photos! I’ve seen couples use paint powder for engagement sessions before but not outside at night with studio lighting…
Hence, that’s exactly what we did. We setup in their backyard and started the shoot well after dark. I used two Canon speedlites with studio umbrellas and really tall stands. We enlisted a couple of family members to shine flashlights for focusing, and more importantly, throw paint powder. This is the same stuff you’ll get hit in the face with if you run one of the Color Me Rad runs. It’s basically colored flour and it looks really cool with studio lighting. We quickly discovered that you can get some clumpy colors, powdered colors in the air, and anything in between. Depending on how we lit the paint powder we were able to achieve different looks too. It was a huge experiment that turned out really interesting. Enjoy!
