Weddings are really where my heart is. For photography, there are so many things happening and so much to shoot photos of, I thrive on that! As much as possible, I like to keep things easy-going and make sure that my clients are having fun and not stressing anything. I aim for great photos that look natural, rather than overly-posed, stiff-looking images. With plenty of experience (shot my first wedding with film in 2002 and currently average 30+ weddings per year), I am easily able to roll with what the day has in store as well as help prevent any issues that could potentially arise.
All of my wedding photography clients receive digital images on a usb drive along with printing rights in about 4 weeks (that is really quick compared to most photographers!). I highly recommend adding an engagement session with every wedding package so that we can get to know each other and so that the two of you can get used to my style of photography as well as gain some confidence for the big day. No travel fees for weddings in Oregon, San Francisco / Bay Area, Sacramento, Southern California, or Hawaii. Prices start at $2000 for full photography coverage of 8 hours. Additional options include having me shoot film, adding a 2nd photographer (90% of the time that is my amazing wife Rachel), additional photography time, etc. Contact me for details or to find a time to chat.
I really like to think outside the box when it comes to engagement sessions. As with all my photography, I want to capture some emotion and tell a story with your engagement photos. So let’s make it a really cool story. Let’s go somewhere amazing, let’s make it an epic shoot! Wedding days have some big limitations (not like we’re going to leave the wedding location to go to Crater Lake for portraits right?) so I like to make engagement sessions count. We can use incredible locations, we can spend more time creating each shot, we can have fun and get to know each other. Plus, it’s a perfect trial run for the wedding where you can get comfortable with how I do photography and build some confidence in how the end results will look.
I offer three sessions for engaged couples in Oregon: 90min, half day adventure (4-5hrs of total time including driving/hiking/shooting) and a full day adventure session (8-9hrs total). The 90min sessions must be in Eugene/Springfield, or Portland on select dates. Adventure sessions in Oregon are half or full day sessions starting and ending in Eugene/Springfield. Let’s drive somewhere amazing, hike somewhere even more amazing, and really create some ridiculously cool memories. I also offer half day and full day engagement sessions in the Bay Area and Southern California. Each session comes with digital images via a digital download so you can make all the prints you want, use the photos for invites or save the dates, decorate the wedding reception with some photos, create a guestbook; you name it.
I used to have this category split up on my website, but the more and more I’ve thought about it the more I realize that I do things the same no matter what type of portrait session I’m shooting. This could be families, children, newborns, high school seniors, etc. It doesn’t make any difference to me who is in the photos, I just wanted to capture who they are and keep it natural. Real looking portraits, not overly staged, fake-looking stuff. I want to keep it candid even when it’s posed, I want these photos to have a lifestyle/documentary feel without being lifestyle/documentary, I want to have fun with it.
Please don’t feel like you need to clearly define what type of portrait session we’re doing, there are no rules here! Maybe a newborn session will include family portraits and a mix of some individual portraits of the other kids in the family? Sometimes maternity sessions are also the perfect time for portraits of your 4 year old? Maybe you got a new puppy? I love puppies.
Clients receive images on a usb drive with printing rights and a pretty quick turnaround time (usually less than 2 weeks). I offer 1hr and 2hr session to meet your needs. I’m based in Eugene, OR but also service Portland, Bend, the Oregon Coast and much of the rest of Oregon when needed. Contact me for details.
