Eugene Wedding | Saint Mary’s Catholic | Kristina & Brian
Well, get ready to be overwhelmed with images. We shot way too many images at this one and it was so tough trying to narrow it down to a somewhat reasonable number. And, trying to get this blog post to be small enough was an incredible task. In the end, we decided that we were just going to go with it and embrace the quantity. So, here are 37 images/compilations for you to feast your eyes upon. Disclaimer: don’t actually try to eat anything, especially the computer screen, with your eyes.
I can’t believe how time flies! We did an engagement photo session with Kristina & Brian over a year ago because Brian was playing college basketball in another state. We had to time everything to work out during his break. It was a successful session, even though we had to plan it for Friday the 13th and we had a camera go down during the shoot! Still though, some great images were captured during the photo session.
So, over a year later Brian is back and we are shooting the amazing wedding of these two at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Eugene. The ceremony was one of the most difficult lighting situations we’ve ever had to deal with at a wedding! Not much light to work with, we had to stay on the sides or at the back, no flash allowed, and not too many good angles to shoot photos of the bride and groom from. Good thing we have a couple of workhorse cameras that keep the digital noise down when shooting in low light. These camera bodies coupled with some high quality super fast lenses and a bit of image stabilization and there was no compromise to the image quality for this couple. Good thing Kristina & Brian hired professional photographers rather than a friend or family member with a camera that sort of knows what they’re doing! We have the experience, the gear, and the know-how to get the job done; even in the most difficult of situations.
After the ceremony we shot some images at the church and then made our way over to Kristina’s parent’s house just outside of Coburg, OR. The property was amazing and we got to take advantage of some incredible back-lit scenarios with the bridal party and the bride & groom. The reception was fun to shoot, and though slightly crowded, made for some interesting angles and fun light to work with. The grand finale, however, stole the show.
Here’s my version: I had just captured some great firework images of the couple kissing and the guests lighting sparklers in the background. We moved up to the front to watch Kristina’s dad light off some “illegal” fireworks from the driveway. I was shooting a final image of the couple looking up to the sky and the light from the fireworks hitting their faces when something hit me in the leg and gave me an instants sort of dead leg. I looked down and realized one of the fireworks that was supposed to shoot into the sky and explode had just pelted me in the calf. I thought to myself, “I need to check my leg and see if it’s burned.” It wasn’t, but at the same time, I realized that the firework hadn’t exploded yet and it was sitting within feet of me. I wanted to scream like a little girl but somehow kept my composure and jumped forward expecting it to hurt. That thing exploded and I didn’t feel a thing, but my ears were ringing. Then two more shot off into the crowd (somehow missing the bride & groom) and nobody was hurt! We all laughed about it and ended the night thankful that everyone was ok! It could have been worse, but since nobody was hurt, I thought it was kind of fun!
Enjoy the images…

Words cannot express the laughter and fun that was captured by Josh and Rachel but Josh just pulled it off in this blog post. It’s true that restriction for church photos make it difficult but Josh and Rachel did incredible work. Thank you both again so much for your hard work, laughter and smiles. We truly appreciate all 1,164 images. P.S. I did scream like a little girl and jumped when the firework pelted you.
Thanks Kristina! We truly loved being a part of your day! Congratulations again!
Where was the reception? Neat place.
The reception was at a private residence: Kristina’s parent’s house just outside of Coburg, OR. Yeah, it was setup really well and everything looked amazing!
Fantastic job of covering the wedding, guys. Your work is soooo beautiful — you caught the fun and the warmth
of the day. I’m so proud of Kristina and Brian, and pleased he’s part of the family. Now those family who couldn’t
get to the wedding can get a flavor of what it was like. THANK YOU!!
