I wanted to make a quick blog post to show you our entries for the Lane County Fair this year. We’re excited to enter four pieces into the professional category! The first image was shot at King Estate by Rachel Rainey. We cropped it down to a panorama and it has become one of our favorite full wedding perspectives. Super romantic, great tones, and some technical composition.
The next three are my images and I chose them for various reasons. I wanted to showcase the versatility of what we do. The first, a completely posed engagement photo from Jennifer & Ryan’s eastern Oregon engagement session. It shows that even though posing subjects is not what we prefer, when the time comes to create a fine art portrait, we take the initiative and make it happen.
Second, a portrait of Emma looking up at the camera. Completely unposed, candid portrait photography. I love photographing children because they’re so unpredictable!
And the last being a creative photojournalism image of a Brittany & Ryan in a field directly after their wedding ceremony. This moment right after the ceremony is one of my favorites! The couple just got married and is the happiest they will be on that day. Sharing the moment and cherishing every second. I prefer to not interfere. And this image shows that you don’t have to. Completely candid, shot at 200mm on my 70-200 f/2.8 at f/2.8 to get that super shallow depth of field. Vignette added in Lightroom during post processing. Colors and tones slightly altered, but still pretty natural.
We’ll let you know how we do in the judging. Thanks for checking these out! And if you’re at the fair, go check out the professional category in the photography exhibit to see these images as prints. Prints always out-do digital versions on a screen, in my opinion.
